Motor Marketing expands and grows team after recruitment “dry spell”

A FAST-growing marketing agency is going from strength to strength with the appointment of several new team members – with more in the pipeline.

Motor Marketing has grown significantly over the last few years, its turnover more than doubling since now-managing director Shevani Wilson took over the business.

She is now expanding the team, taking on one-to-two more team members in the coming weeks, with plans to hire around eight additional team members by Christmas.

The expansion comes after the firm, which offers outsourced call centres for the automotive industry, picked up several new clients and large projects.

Shevani has found the process of recruitment a challenge over the last few years, with the industry as whole experiencing a dry spell for around 18 months after the beginning of the pandemic.
She said that not only did she find that less people would reply to jobs, but also found that people weren’t taking the interview process seriously.

She said: ‘We’ve found that a lot of people apply for our job ads just to tick a box to say that they’re applying for jobs and there are people that we see applying every single time we post an ad. The first couple of times we’d offer them an interview, but we soon realised that they weren’t taking it seriously.

‘On the other hand, we’ve had people who have gone through the interview process, who we’ve offered the job and on their first day they’ve left for lunch and never come back. It’s not fair on small businesses like us who put a lot of time, money and energy in finding the right candidate.’

Shevani is finding that the recruitment market is beginning to level out and she is receiving more applications for each job ad she posts.

She said: ‘We’re getting more applications now than we would have done a few years ago. It’s good to see things beginning to return to normal. Hopefully it means we can continue to grow and build on our amazing team.’
