Retailer Sandra Tickner, who runs the Selection Box store in Bridgend, Wales, recently earned the Independent Retailer of the Year award at the annual Federation of Independent Retailers (NFRN) awards ceremony.
13 NFRN members and suppliers were recognised at the ceremony for their commitment to the industry.
The awards evening took place at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on January 28th. The night was hosted by Television presenter and journalist Naga Munchetty.
Judges were impressed by Sandra’s customer care values, including the introduction of new procedures to assist shoppers with dementia. The Selection Box store also maintains a large range of convenience products, many of which have been stocked following customer feedback.
Concerning her recent win, Sandra said:
“I didn’t know that I had won the award until my name was announced on the night”.
“I was gobsmacked when I won. I was really elated and thrilled.”
“I am a member of the NFRN and had a brilliant time at the awards ceremony. I went with my partner Dave, son Matt, daughter Emma and son-in-law Matthew.”
“My favourite part of the evening was winning my award– I was overjoyed.”
Sandra continued: “I would like to thank all of my staff, both past and present, and each of my customers – I could not do any of it without them”.
