Visit Mid Wales bookings surge thanks to TXGB partnership

Mid Wales tourism businesses are celebrating a significant increase in bookings through www.VisitMidWales.co.uk, thanks to an international partnership.
MWT Cymru (Mid Wales Tourism is generating more business through the Tourism Exchange Great Britain (TXGB) platform, as part of a wider push with Visit Wales to help Welsh tourism businesses connect with more visitors.
From January to June, TXGB-powered bookings on Visit Mid Wales increased by 614% compared to the same period last year. June alone saw a 720% jump.
MWT Cymru is an independent membership organisation which represents more than 600 tourism and hospitality businesses across Powys, Ceredigion and Southern Eryri (Snowdonia),
Zoe Hawkins, MWT Cymru’s chief executive, said: “We’re thrilled to see such a huge increase in bookings through Visit Mid Wales. In a year that’s proving tough for so many in our industry, this demonstrates there are still real opportunities to connect with customers, if businesses have the right tools and support.”
TXGB works with several different booking systems to connect tourism businesses directly with a wide range of distributors, including the Visit Mid Wales website, which is commission free for MWT Cymru members.
Both accommodation and non-accommodation businesses can use TXGB to opt into the websites they wish to appear on, without losing control of their pricing or availability.
TXGB is free to join, with a 2.5% booking fee which only applies when they receive a booking. They can connect their existing booking system or use TXGB’s free tool, TXLoad.
“TXLoad could be a great solution for businesses who are interested in being bookable online for the first time or who rely solely on online travel agencies (OTAs) to drive sales,” added Zoe.
“The whole TXGB platform provides a much easier way for businesses to get in front of more customers. Visit Mid Wales can also connect MWT Cymru members directly with FreetoBook, Eviivo, SuperControl and other OTAs, including Sykes Cottages and more, as well as providing direct links to their own websites and social media profiles.”
One Mid Wales business benefiting from TXGB is the iconic Devil’s Bridge Falls, near Aberystwyth. Manager Victoria Chism said: “The platform is really useful – I can log on to it easily and see what tickets have been sold on certain days. If, for instance, there’s a weather warning, I can block off those days.
“I’m really pleased we’re using TXGB because it’s been so easy to set up and I would recommend it to any business.“
